Welcome to Amston Lake

Amston Lake is a beautiful 188-acre lake located in the towns of Hebron, Lebanon and Colchester, Connecticut. The lake is one of the cleanest lakes in Connecticut and is crystal clear because gas motors of any kind are not allowed on the lake.

The Amston Lake Tax District was created in 2002 by a special act of the Connecticut General Assembly. The District is managed by a municipal government run by a nine-member board of directors whose mission statement is to promote lake health and resident safety. They are elected to oversee lake management, environmental monitoring, and neighborhood security. There are over 800 property owners in the Amston Lake District.

About half of the houses are year-round and half seasonal. However, on the Hebron side of the lake, about 70% are year-round, while on the Lebanon side, 70% are seasonal.

There are two groups that make Amston Lake work well for its residents. The first is the Amston Lake District (ALD) Board of Directors (BOD). Take some time to explore the menu at the top of the website to learn about the activities of the ALD.

The other group is referred to as the Amston Lake Association (ALA). It is a voluntary group that is responsible for maintaining the community clubhouse and putting on activities that make for a varied social life. It is a separate group from the ALD. Visit the ALA site by clicking on the link in the green menu bar above.

Another valuable resource is the Amston Lake District Handbook. This Handbook contains important information about our community and its administration, including our Best Lake Practices, ordinances, and by-laws.

We hope you find this website interesting and informative. We urge you to take full advantage of everything Amston Lake has to offer, and encourage you to become familiar with our rules to help keep our community safe and beautiful. Welcome to the neighborhood.
