Dredging of Sediment Deltas at Amston Lake

The Amston Lake Board of Directors (ALD Board) completed a dredging operation in February 2010 to remove sediment from the storm water outflow in the H-6 cove (off of Deepwood Drive near Francis Road).  The dredging operation was based on recommendations from a storm water runoff engineering study conducted by the Town of Hebron and lake health action items outlined in the 2008 Annual Lake Monitoring Report produced by Dr. George Knoecklein, PhD.    The ALD Board met with the DEP and the Town of Hebron Wetlands Agent to obtain the appropriate permits and then issued an RFP.    Knight & Sons Construction was awarded the contract.    Removal of sediment must be completed in colder weather when lake plant life is dormant.   The Town of Hebron agreed to remove the sediment and safely dispose of it outside of the Amston Lake watershed.   The ALD Board will be discussing future dredging operations at the Annual Meeting in May.  Please refer to the attached pictures.
