The lake, Main Beach, Lollipop Beach, and seven small rights of way are owned by
the Amston Lake District. These properties are available for the use of lake
residents and their guests. Access to the beaches is controlled by lake passes
issued yearly by the lake manager. Boat storage is available at all of the
beaches for residents who don't live directly on the lake.
The district is governed by a nine-member board of directors, each director serving a three-year term. The board meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Clubhouse on Wood Acres Road. (See the Events link for meeting schedules and the Lake Government link for a list of Board members.)
The lake and beaches are managed by Reggie Miles, a long-time Amston resident with many years of service to the community. The district contracted with Reggie in 2002 to oversee the many tasks required to keep the lake as nice as it is. Reggie and his wife, Laurie, produce "The Amston Laker" newsletter to keep lake residents up to date with lake events. The newsletter is available
online.
Social activities are organized by the Amston Lake Improvement Association (ALIA), which owns the Clubhouse on Wood Acres Road and sponsors a range of activities ranging from Lake Days to Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties. (See the ALIA link for a history of ALIA and a list of current officers.)
The district taxes the residents for such services as beach security, environmental monitoring, and miscellaneous lake management services. The tax collector is Eileen Curtin, 11 Woodland Road, Lebanon. The district taxes are relatively low – typically $150-$400 per year for residences. (See the Lake Government link)
